What a Wonderful World in Watson Wednesday, October 2nd, 2013

In Watson, Saskatchewan, great things are happening in the recycling world.  Check it out!

Ten Tree and SARCAN Promotion

Depot Supervisor Shelly ven der Buhs and staffer Anne Walked decided to contact the schools in their area that were doing fundraising bottle drives for Grade 12 graduates, and present all of the grads with a tree to plant. The schools were thrilled and the students were pretty excited too.

The grade twelvers discussed the idea of returning on their 20th reunions to see their trees all grown up. Graduates in Watson, Quill Lake, and Engelfeld Schools were involved, and 36 students in total planted trees at their schools in honor of their graduating class and SARCAN’s 25th anniversary.

Partnership with Watson School

Yvonne Gueguen, a teacher at Watson School wrote to us to let us know about how good of a job Shelley is doing in engaging kids at the school in work placements, and also teaching the community about recycling.  Students from Watson School's Work Exploration program have had work placements at SARCAN, and have had the opportunity to be introduced to the working world.

Mrs. Gueguen told us that Shelly "has gone above and beyond for the community she works in and is also a great ambassador for SARCAN."

We couldn't agree more, Shelly! Congratulations on all the work you do! We can't wait to hear the next innovative and exciting programs you'll be involved in next.
